What is SpiritSentient?

SpiritSentient is a movement dedicated to the use of spirit(heart) and knowledge(mind) in combination in order to create and re-create.

It was founded by Jason Fonceca but openly embraces everyone, especially those truly interested and ready to grow in their own creativity.

It is about pushing past fears, breaking out of comfort zones, and leaving behind self-manufactured limits, all the while aiming to accomplish this in a manner particularly beneficial to those perhaps a bit too caught up in westernized, big-city ways of thinking. The world is on the edge of a new era, and SpiritSentient will do its part to usher it in.

Who is Jason Fonceca?

Jason Fonceca is 29 years old, 5'9" tall, currently residing in Toronto. He uses his gifts for teaching, semi-photographic memory, connected communication and story-telling, humour and wit, world-shaping creativity, desire for an improved world, and inspiration -attracting-ness along with his innate excellence in social interaction and dealing with people to constantly create and re-create in life.

He chose a life of extreme creativity at an early age. He was drawing and colouring as far back as he can remember and his parents were very open to his passion, loving him with no real designs on moulding him into what they wanted or limiting him in any way. They fed and supported the vast majority of his creative desires whether they were large or small. This also could be said of his relatively large extended family as well: at age 7 his uncle introduced him to graphic programming in basic, and he branched out to designing interactive programs on the commodore 64.

Other aunts and uncles supplied him with comics, toys and computer accessories. Grandparents often provided books. He learned quickly that he could speed read, and absorb and retain vast amounts of knowledge at an above average rate. During his teen years he was placed in a 'gifted' school but he still found far more satisfaction in picking a topic or field and reading or researching it on his own terms as opposed to the classes and lectures at school which he often found sluggish and repetitive. A consequence of this is that he would spend most of his classes doodling with one medium or another, or reading some alternate novel or subject, and expanding the creative tools at his disposal.

He took much pleasure in the social aspects of school though, so he started skipping class quite a bit to spend time with friends. Throughout life he has had hardly an enemy, has turned bullies into friends, maintained great relations with ex-girlfriends, and has been accepted by all manner of cliques and crowds. He found everyone had a story, something to share, and as a corollary, something for him to learn. He made much art during this time: many school agendas filled with doodles, hours and hours of drawing full pages in class-mates yearbooks, even video games and BBS ANSi art.

He submerged many of his true character traits in order to be 'more acceptable' - he experimented with all kinds of things in order to connect with other people, and got far by doing so, but he knew deep down he was hiding the brilliant light he had to offer the world.

Refuting some of his core characteristics brought him to a relatively slow period of growth and he felt his knowledge and creativity were not accepted by the world around him, and so saw only darkness and cynicism and negativity around. He became embittered.

Eventually he came to the conclusion that he was worrying too much about friends, women, and money to truly focus his energies on using his talents to benefit others, and so he took some huge steps to alter that. He began to speak his truth. He told his job at the time he was not happy there, and if things weren't to change, he would quit. He spoke up in a similar manner to his girlfriend at the time. Neither circumstance changed, so he moved on from them both and then began the catapulting forward of his creative endeavors.

Now, openly loving and friendly towards everyone, Jason has created comic books, superheroes, short stories, (half) a novel, fine art, illustrations, logos, tattoos, cd covers, brochures, business cards, t-shirts, websites, computer programs, portfolios, dj mixes, doodles, paintings, children's stories, windows themes, his personal style of art: ‘flare and edge,’ plays, scripts, sculptures, wood-burnings, collages, science projects, reports, resumes, poems, essays, bulletin board systems, websites, music collections, mosaics, video games, flash animations, recipes and more -- although a sizable portion of it has been lost from multiple hard drive crashes and moving homes and so on.

He has a decent grasp with all of the disciplines he's studied, including but not limited to: art, music, writing, philosophy, religion, nutrition, stretching, anatomy, sex, fitness, social interaction & human relationships, singing, dancing, computers, programming, web design, personal style, yoga, physics, swimming, sports, martial arts, photography, budgeting, brainstorming, research, etc.

Jason is currently enriching his own and others' lives with personal 1-on-1 creativity coaching, publishing his All Is Creative articles, and attracting enticing design commissions to sate his desire to create art.
